Libreoffice does not start any more since last update

Dear all,

I ran a normal update on Tuesday, and since then cannot start
libreoffice any more:

stan at debian-stan:~$ libreoffice
ERROR 4 forking process

ps aux does not reveal any running soffice instance.

I already tried renaming .config/libreoffice and sudo apt-get install
--reinstall libreoffice, but it did not help.

Can anybody help? This is a really critical problem for me right now.
