error messages related to apt-transport-https

install the version from debian, then upgrade. To determine the debian version-number:

:~$ apt-cache policy apt-transport-https

apt-transport-https:
   Installed: 1.0.9.8.3-0cairon1
   Candidate: 1.0.9.8.3-0cairon1
   Version table:
      1.0.9.8.3-0cairon1 0
         999 https://cdn.archive.progress-linux.org/packages/ cairon/main amd64 Packages
         100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
      1.0.9.8.3 0
         500 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ jessie/main amd64 Packages


Install the version from debian:

:~$ apt-get install apt-transport-https=1.0.9.8.3
