Matlab Live-Script Issue in Debian 9

Hallo zusammen

Thank you for contacting MathWorks Technical Support. My name is Rylan
Dmello and I am writing in reference to your Technical Support Case
#02661150 regarding 'Running Live Script with Debian 9 or Progress Linux
4'.

I understand that you are getting a "Viewing MATLAB Live Script files is
not currently supported by this operating system configuration" error
message when opening or running a MATLAB Live Script from a Debian
9-based operating system.

While the Debian 9 and Progress Linux 4 operating systems are not
directly supported by MATLAB R2017a, this issue has been reported
previously by other Debian 9 users of MATLAB R2017a. Therefore I have
provided a possible cause of this issue, and a workaround which may help
resolve the issue.

This error message may appear when using the MATLAB R2017a Live Editor
on newer Linux operating systems (such as Debian 9) since the
'libgconf-2.so.4' library is usually not installed by default on newer
Linux operating systems. In order to verify this, you can examine the
installed shared libraries in your '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/'
directory and check if the 'libgconf-2.so.4' library exists. If the
library does not exist on your operating system and if you would like to
install it using the Aptitude package manager, the following command can
be used to install 'libgconf-2.so.4' on your system:

$ apt-get install libgconf-2-4

Note that the above command may require superuser permission to run on
your system. After installing 'libgconf-2.so.4', please restart MATLAB
and verify if the Live Editor still displays the same error message, or
if it works correctly after installing the library.

I hope this helps resolve the issue. I am closing this case for now.
However, please feel free to ask me any additional questions. I will be
happy to reopen this case and assist you further.

Please preserve the Reference ID in further correspondence on this
query. This allows our systems to automatically associate your reply to
the appropriate Case.
